The peas have started flowering and are beginning to form pods. They are probably at least doubling in size each day. Sowed a few more Iceberg lettuce seeds. The soil in the leek trench had subsided a few inches, so I topped it back up with soil from the council tip, and then filled in around the leeks with a mixture of multi-compost, bone meal and vermiculite.

Pinched out the growing tips of the melons today. Also dug up a few more spuds for tea. They have increased in size considerably after a few days of showers. Some of the plants have had very few spuds on them. When I think back, some of them were pretty sparse on shoots after chitting [...]

With not much to do today, I pricked out what I hope are the final sowings of cauliflower. There are 3 types :-
Pavilion F1 hybrid – Solid deep curds that keep their quality over a long period. An Australian variety producing curds form September through October (Thompson & Morgan)

I transplanted the tomato plants into their final pots and caned them up for support. The first flowers are just starting to bloom so I’ll need to give the plants a tap each day to help them pollinate.
