Pip’s progress

The Yorkshire Giant bulbils that I received have now rooted and are starting to come away. Here’s a pic of them, together with a pic of Dave’s own that he set off in November.

It’s getting cold!

Even with the paraffin heater on, the temperature went down to 1.5°C in the greenhouse last night. I still haven’t ventured out to look at the leeks yet, relying on reports from Dianne ( they’ve probably been dead for over a week )

Scotland here we come!

Boro

We’re off to bonny Jockland tomorrow for a few days to see Di’s Ma and family. I’ll have to check the roads for snow in case any of them are closed before we set off.

8th December

I received the ten exhibition leek seedlings that I’d ordered a couple of months ago online from a seedsman/grower/judge. What a disgrace! They were about 6 inches tall and a millimetre thick, soft and flopping al over the place. I’ve potted them on to see if they improve.

27th September

jphnsafter

After a couple of hours of hard graft (Dianne, not me!) our second
garden is starting to look ship-shape. In the coming spring, it will be
chokka with young weeds again as the previous weeds had all seeded
before we could get stuck into them.

21st September – New project

John1

Well, yesterday we were handed over the keys to our new project. John, a long time friend of mine, has kindly let us have his back garden for our use. He is an ex-show grower and the garden was previously used by one of our retiring show gardeners, so it has all of the basics [...]
